The seventeenth conference of the Australian Near Infrared Spectroscopy Group (ANISG), co-hosted with the New Zealand Near Infrared Spectroscopy Society (NZNIRSS) was held in April 2016 at the he historic Port of Echuca-Moama.

The conference brought together NIR researchers, students and users of the technology from a wide variety of backgrounds and applications in Australia and New Zealand, as well as the major suppliers of NIR equipment and software, to discuss and view current developments.

Two separate one-day short courses preceded the meeting. On Monday 18th April, Dr Woody Barton and Dr James de Haseth conducted a course on NIR spectroscopy and instrumentation. On Tuesday 19th May, leading statistician Professor Tom Fearn conducted a course on spectral pre-treatment and instrument standardisation.
