Dear ANISG Short Course Participants,
Here is some additional information about the Port Fairy segment of the Short Course Programme.
As you know, we had to come up with a plan to overcome the dire
shortage of accommodation in Hamilton on the night of Monday 7th April,
due to a RACV car rally having booked out most accommodation (for this
night only) several months ago.
I am assuming you have already booked your accommodation for Saturday
5th (where required) and Sunday 6th, and for those staying on for the
conference, Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th at least. I also assume
you have made arrangements with your motel to check out on Monday
morning and check in again on Tuesday evening. We apologise again
for any inconvenience.
Proposed Schedule
The proposed schedule for Monday afternoon 7th and Tuesday 8th is as follows:
Monday

Afternoon tea 1545-1600
Depart from DPI Hamilton for Port Fairy at 1600
Arrive Port Fairy around 1700

Close course no later than 1630

Accommodation
Based on the information given on the registration forms, we have
booked 29 people into accommodation at Port Fairy for Monday night
– 3 double rooms and 23 single rooms. All except 3 single
rooms will be at Seacombe House, corner Cox and Sackville Streets, Port Fairy. The other 3 single rooms will be at the Central Motel,
56 Sackville Street, Port Fairy. The delegates booked in at the
Central Motel have been notified. Note that the two motels are
only a five-minute walk apart.
The accommodation booked at Seacombe House comprises 15 motel rooms, 3
en-suite hotel rooms, one 1-bedroom cottage and two 2-bedroom
cottages. Those who are sharing accommodation have already been
contacted. Except for the cottages, the price per single room
will be $115 and per double room will be $125. No accommodation
in Port Fairy is cheap, but we have negotiated corporate rates.
The accommodation has been booked but all delegates are responsible for
paying the motels directly. To save time checking out at Seacombe
House, it is recommended that delegates consider paying by credit card
over the phone in advance for their accommodation.
Meals
In order to compensate for the inconvenience of staying an extra night
to that originally planned, we will cover the majority of your meal
costs, as follows.
Dinner at “The Stump” (Caledonian Inn, 41 Bank Street, Port
Fairy – claimed to be Victoria’s oldest continually
licensed hotel) on Monday night is included in your course registration
fee. This is traditional pub fare, and the deal extends to EITHER
an entree and main, OR a main and dessert. You order your meal at
the counter and it will be served at the table. Note that drinks
are your own responsibility!
A continental breakfast on Tuesday morning at either Seacombe House or
the Central Motel is also included in the registration fee. If
you want a full cooked breakfast, the amount extra to the continental
breakfast will be your responsibility.
Morning tea and lunch on Tuesday will also be covered.
Transport to and from Port Fairy
We will hire a 22-seater bus to take the majority of delegates to and
from Port Fairy. The remainder will travel by private car
(details later).
If you have any queries on the above, please contact me. I hope you enjoy the course.
Peter Flinn
